Diving Woo Haram and Lee Jae Kyung advance to semifinals together in 3m springboard

Woo Ha-ram performs during the 6th round of the men’s diving men’s 3m springboard final at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games held at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center swimming pool in Zhejiang Province, China on the afternoon of the 3rd.

Woo Ha-ram (26, Korea Sports Promotion Foundation) and Lee Jae-kyung (24, Incheon Metropolitan City Sports Council) have both advanced to the semifinals of the men’s 3m springboard diving event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Woo Ha-ram ranked 12th out of 25 with a total of 389.10 points from the first to sixth attempts in the men’s 3m springboard preliminaries held at the Paris Aquatics Center in France on the 6th (Korean time).

Lee Jae-kyung, who scored 381.40 points, also ranked 16th, and along with Woo Ha-ram, she was included in the top 18 and earned a ticket to the semifinals. The men’s 3m springboard semifinals will be held at 5 p.m. on the 7th.

Woo Haram performed four and a half laps in his third attempt, earning 76.00 points and moving up from 13th to 8th place. He made a mistake in his fourth attempt and only received 52.5 points, but he was ranked 12th with a decent performance thereafter.

Lee Jae-kyung also did well, ranking 6th until his third attempt, but made a mistake in his fourth attempt while doing three and a half laps and fell to 13th place. Still, he managed to advance to the semifinals in 16th place.

Woo Haram, a Korean diving star, is making his third Olympic appearance after the 2016 Rio de Janeiro and 2020 Tokyo Games. He placed 4th in Tokyo, the highest ever for a Korean diver.
