Suwon KT, the KBL runner-up in the 2023-24 season, fell to a Taiwanese team at home in the East Asian Super League (EASL).
KT fell to the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots, 70-91, in the second game of the 2024-25 EASL Group A on Wednesday at Suwon KT Arena.

Now in its third season, the EASL is the premier basketball competition in East Asia.
For this year’s edition, the competition has expanded to 10 teams, with Hong Kong and Macau joining the existing teams from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines. The teams are divided into two groups of five and play a home-and-home format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the best-of-four tournament.
KT was drawn in Group A with Taoyuan, San Miguel, Hiroshima Dragonflies (Japan), and Eastern (Hong Kong), and was swept in its first home game of the tournament.
KT lost the rebounding battle, 37-47, to Taoyuan, who were without Ha Yoon-ki, who injured his ankle. They struggled from beyond the arc, making just 7 of 34 shots for a 20.6 percent success rate.
Heo Hoon led the way with 21 points and Jeremiah Tillman finished with 18 points, but Rhett Hammonds was held to four points.
KT will host Hiroshima in Anbang on Dec. 4 for their third game of the group stage.
Meanwhile, defending KBL champion Busan KCC, which is in Group B, will open the tournament on Nov. 6 against the Macau Black Bears (Macau).
