Ranked 3rd in the world for the team event, Korea won 3-0 against 15th-ranked Sweden in the quarterfinals of the women’s team event held at the South Pari Arena 4 in Paris, France on the 6th. The women’s national team, which is aiming for a team medal after winning a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Games, will play the semifinals on the 8th. It is highly likely that they will face China, ranked 1st in the world. China will face Taiwan (ranked 7th) in the quarterfinals on the 7th.

On the 6th (local time), in the first match of the women’s team table tennis quarterfinals at the 2024 Paris Olympics held at South Paris Arena 4 in Paris, France, the Shin Yu-bin-Jeon Ji-hee pair is competing against the Swedish Philippa Bergand-Kristina Calberg pair.

The first match, doubles, was easily won by the ‘Hee-bin duo’ of the same age, Jeon Ji-hee (32) and Shin Yu-bin (20). The two players, ranked second in the women’s doubles, won the Asian Games in Hangzhou last year, giving Korea its first Asian Games gold medal in table tennis in 21 years.

Lee Eun-hye (29), who played in the second singles match, also defeated Sweden’s Linda Bergström. Lee Eun-hye (44th), who has the lowest world singles ranking among Korean players, struggled with the defensive table tennis of her opponent, ace Bergström (32nd), in the beginning of the match, but soon found her pace and overwhelmed her opponent. She did not back down even in the close deuce matches in the third and fourth games. Jeon Ji-hee (15th), who played in the third singles match again, lost the first set to Sweden’s Christina Carlberg (59th), but ended up winning the match with a comeback victory. She changed the flow of the match by winning the second game after a close deuce match. Korea, which stopped in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo competition, went one step further in Paris.

Earlier on this day, in the men’s team event round of 16 held at the same venue, Korea (ranked 6th in the team event) defeated Croatia (ranked 11th) 3-0 and advanced to the quarterfinals. The men’s national team will play against China, ranked 1st, on the 7th to advance to the semifinals. 파워볼사이트
