Farewell game washed out by torrential rain…LG Kelly pitches 2⅔ innings of no-hitter

LG Twins foreign pitcher Casey Kelly’s farewell game in the KBO was washed away by torrential rain.

The game between the LG Twins and Doosan Bears at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Tuesday was suspended 50 minutes into the game due to heavy rain, and the umpires declared a no-game at 8:29 p.m. when the rain did not stop.

It was Kelly’s last game before his release, and he missed the chance to smile and greet LG fans. The disappointment was compounded by the fact that she had been battling back with plenty of scoring support from her batting lineup.

Kelly pitched 2⅔ innings with 38 pitches, two hits, one walk, one strikeout, and no runs before the game was suspended, giving LG a 6-0 lead.

In the top of the first inning, Kelly struck out two and walked one in front of a sellout crowd to start the game off with a three-hit shutout.

LG’s offense and defense were on full display as the team looked to give the victory as a parting gift.

Austin Dean, who had blasted two home runs the day before, led off the bottom of the first inning with a two-run shot off Doosan starter Jordan Balazovic. It was his 21st of the season.

The next batter, Moon Bo-kyung, drew a full-count battle that lasted nine pitches before hitting a solo arch to center field. It was LG’s fourth “back-to-back” home run of the season.

In the bottom of the second, LG shortstop Oh Ji-hwan shined on defense.

After Kelly gave up a walk to Kim Jae-hwan and a single to Park Joon-young to put runners on first and second, Oh made a deft catch to end the inning.

He bounded an infield hit by Kim Ki-yeon and caught it to put runners on the corners. He then tagged the runner at second base and stole second base to complete the kill.

LG’s bats were hot in the second inning as well.

LG used a Park Hae-min’s single, Shin Min-jae’s walk, and Doosan‘s fielding error to load the bases, and back-to-back RBI singles by Oh Hwan and Austin made it 6-0.

However, with two outs in the top of the third, Kelly was forced off the mound abruptly as a torrential downpour covered the field.

It was a somewhat hollow farewell to the mound at Jamsil Stadium, where she had been rolling strongly for more than five years. 토토사이트 추천
