Tottenham are keeping tabs on Japanese striker Kyogo Furuhashi (Celtic).
“Furuhashi, who finished as the top scorer in the Scottish league, is on the radar of Tottenham manager Enzi Postecoglou,” global soccer media outlet Goal.com reported on Friday (June 5).
Furuhashi is a former student of Postecoglou.
Before Postecoglou took the helm at Tottenham, he managed Celtic, where Furuhashi was the main man.
Furuhashi is still a regular striker for Celtic today.
Postecoglou knows what he’s capable of better than anyone.
Last season, Furuhashi was the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership with 27 goals in 36 appearances.
This season, he’s been a regular under Brendan Rodgers, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 12 league appearances.
Often, when a manager changes teams, he takes with him some of his former protégés that he utilized as mainstays at his previous club, and Postecoglou did not keep any Celtic players during the summer transfer window. 온라인카지노
However, Furuhashi was consistently linked with Tottenham during the last transfer window.
Ahead of the winter transfer window, the speculation has picked up again.
“Furuhashi could be paired with Son Heung-min depending on the manager’s tactical needs,” said Goal.com.
Unbeaten in their opening 10 games of the season (8 wins, 2 draws), Tottenham are one point behind ‘leaders’ Manchester City (27 points).
With Spurs having played one game less than City, they have the potential to overtake them.
However, if Spurs are to continue their onslaught, they’ll need to make more signings.
“I think Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is ready to spend the money and bring in a striker,” says former Spurs pundit Alan Hutton.
He needs to bring in a player who can take the pressure off.
One or two more signings in January will be enough to push the top teams away.”
The local consensus is that Tottenham need a striker to play alongside or partner Son Heung-min.
With the need for striker reinforcements, Postecoglou has instructed Spurs’ scouting department to take a closer look at Furuhashi’s performances, according to British outlet The Sun.
